Ex IWM No 4 Grenade converted to Hayles aerial bomb . This is a completely standard No 4 with just the rod replaced with a set of fins . Could be displayed as either . It's in superb condition & is the ONLY No 4 variant I've ever seen that retains most of the ORIGINAL lacquer coating on all the parts including the vanes & base piece . The IWM stamp on the fins was probably a stock identification number added in the early 1920's . I've seen similar stamps on other ex IWM items but they are VERY rare . The grenade is missing the spring clip that secured the fuze assembly in the top cap but the retaining studs are still there & one could easily be replicated . It's also missing one of the retaining bolts for the needle pellet . The bolts for the No 4 are unique & a normal bolt from any other R/G won't fit but , once again , easily replicated . Can be posted anywhere .
